Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Later than I wanted to be this morning as the cooler night temperatures have led me to indulge in sleep. I intended to get out of bed at five this morning to have some more time. My body and mind said no. I guess I needed two nights of nine hours of sleep.
What did we do this week? Amanda had a bit of ear drama. The new one we purchased a couple of years ago decided to stop working. After an adrenaline-charged search around the house, I found the previous model and got it shipped to her priority style. Three days of not hearing everything had to be a different experience. She is going to send me the malfunctioning one to take into her audiologist to see about repairs. Lesson learned to always keep the previous model handy just in case.
Serra's roommate got moved to her new room this week. She has been adjusting to being solo. Being able to listen to her music through the wireless speaker Amanda gave her for Christmas is great. Adjusting to some of the different noises at night is a little different. She says things are good. Last night was a Twilight movie marathon with friends. It is their fall break with no classes on Monday and Tuesday, I hope she doesn't get bored. The lined overalls are a hit and very comfy.
Busy week at work with pattern reviews and two days at a shoot. Lots of stairs and a concrete floor do not make for a happy ankle. Guess I did need the nine-hour sleep nights to recover a bit! This week will be quieter with most of the staff running SOAR, our spinning retreat.
Crafts saw time spinning and teaching. I powered through the merino/bamboo blend.
This is the single ply wound on my ball winder ready to take back to the wheel and ply.
And here we are with a very full bobbin of two-ply yarn! Although I think my yarny friends would call it thread. The two-ply yarn before washing came in at 35 wraps per inch and a grist of 5400 yards per pound. My finished skein weighed 3.85 ounces so if my math is correct, I should have about 1300 yards. I will sacrifice a couple more yards this week once it is dry to get more specs. Considering I plan to dye and use this as embroidery thread, I think it came out just right. I thought I had a dye plan figured out but need to do some math and possibly some experimenting first.
I had two classes at The Loopy Ewe this week, a sweater class that runs all month and a begin to knit class. There is still time to sign up for November and December's schedule. I have been getting tons of feedback for additional classes and hope to get them planned and scheduled for next year to continue generating interest.
As for me, it was a solid week. Work took up a lot of it with the shoot that was a bit rough. I'm still getting to the gym and have my mile down to 28 minutes. I need to keep doing my stretches and exercises to gain more mobility and stamina. The ankle is about 85%. I ordered glasses with a new prescription, and they are not right so that will need taking care of. I probably should have followed my gut and gone to my usual place, and I didn't. No worries though as I still have the old ones. Baseball has been an absolute treat and probably why I got so much spinning done! The trick is not treadling faster when something exciting happens. Here's to being a little gentler with myself for October. Breathe, rest, stretch, Love, know it's all good, and I'll be back next week :)
