Good Morning and Happy Sunday! As usual for this time of year, the sun is bright and shiny already today promising another day of heat. No worries for me inside as Daddy came over on Friday and we have had the air conditioning on. According to the forecast, cooler temperatures will be here later in the week, and they can't arrive soon enough. Some rain would be welcome also as the area is dealing with a massive wildfire. I thought we had made it through fire season and August decided to prove me wrong.
What have we been up to this week? More of the same for Amanda with OR visits and surgeries to watch. Hopefully the jar of green chile is helping and not getting drained too quickly. You know she's becoming used to 'normal' food when she forgets she added green chile and wonders why the dish is spicy. I believe she has two more weeks in the OR and a week of wrap up before traditional class work begins on August 26.
Serra is already out the door this morning as the best friend got back from family vacation. I might see her again this time tomorrow as I'm sure there is a lot for the two of them to catch up on. Her week was full of more college prep. I think she is about 70% packed. Her passport is taken care of, and she got the last immunization she needed on Friday. Her class schedule is set, and she is excited to start her Mondays with Chemistry class.
I finished a tatting project for work that will be on the PieceWork website in a couple of weeks. This week will be full of knitting and writing for the Farm & Fiber Knits website. I also have photo shoot prep for the following week.
Crafts were busy with a little bit of everything. Not only did I spin, knit and weave, I taught two lessons and finished up a class. We will have the next round of classes that run from September to December on the Loopy Ewe website soon. My bandweaving is almost complete, and I will get Serra's college lanyard started next. The mens Tour de France may be over but I am still spinning on my project.
One and a half ounces so far! I'm speedy.
I asked Serra what colors to knit for socks next and she said purple and chartreuse. That meant the July sock set from Little Squirrel is now on the needles.
A little bit different shaping for the toe and I think I will try out the Sweet Tomato Heel on this pair.
As for me, things are going good. A few bumps this week with an early visit that I wasn't ready for. Ankle is healing well, and I get to do things without the boot at my PT on Tuesday. Once the boot is gone, I am treating myself to new tennis shoes. My range of motion in the ankle is already better than it was before surgery, so I call it a win. We aren't quite in the dog days of summer as August tends to bring. Instead, it is a state of anticipation with the changes that are taking place this month.
Next week! More OR visits for Amanda. I hope she gets to see more new surgeries. Lots of friend time for Serra to soak it all in. Me? I'm still working on the slowing down rather than the speeding up. Breathe, smile, be, Love, take the time for these moments, and I'll be back next week ;)
