Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I am enjoying the unexpectedly cool breeze flowing in through the front window. Weather has been odd to say the least this summer. Normally August is blazing hot and dry, not so this time around. We haven't had the afternoon rainstorms since I was in college, and I am not going to share how long ago that was! What did we do this week? With a short three weeks at home for Amanda, we have been powering through the to-do list. School prep, insurance changes, passport renewals, college essay writing, deadline checking . . . the list goes on. The good thing? The list is almost completely crossed out! Only a few items remain to...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It feels like the July weather has finally shown up at the end. We have been cheating a bit with running the AC for a few hours in the evening. It makes it cold enough that Amanda, the furnace, is comfortable and Serra and get to snuggle into our blankets. Surprisingly the forecast has things cooling off. I expected for August to be downright miserable. Guess we will have to wait and see. What did we do this week? It was one of those rare, quiet weeks. Amanda came back from Bridge tutoring last Sunday. Thankfully it was a smooth day of travel. Serra had her Senior photos taken! Each of them is entering their...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It is still an unusual weather July. The days are hot as they should be, yet the nights are cool enough to sleep, an added blessing. I'm sure the thunderstorms we had this week helped with that as well. What were we up to this week? Serra has been learning the limits with her social battery and sleep. Not one but two sleepovers took place this week. I really don't know why parents call these events sleepovers because that is the last thing that happens at them! Her social battery dried up at thirty hours after the Thursday one. She came home Friday evening, ate, promptly fell asleep at 730 and is still trying to...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It is bright and sunny outside my window today. At the moment, I am trying to take advantage of the cooler temperature as I know the day is going to heat up. The weather is more like the usual July as it was dry and hot all week. What did we do this week? In between her rounds of creating in Minecraft Serra has been a social butterfly. Wednesday and Thursday were spent out on the town with friends. They have also planned a sleepover this evening that is going to take the majority of tomorrow as well. She is doing a good job of balancing, giving herself time to rest as well. A milestone...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The calendar says July, however the fog that just rolled in outside my window has me thinking April. The weather this summer has been something else. A normal July would already have had several days in the high nineties meaning cold showers at night simply to be able to sleep. Instead, I have gotten to snuggle into my blankets with the window open to be cozy. What did we do this week? Serra and I had a very quiet one. Minecraft and extra sleep filled Serra's days. We also got in some driving practice as her test is this week. The holiday gave me two extra days of rest, craft and reset. Amanda spent the...
