Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I know that it is mid-August, and it is supposed to be sweltering. Have to admit I am loving the cool mornings. The forecast says temperatures will be in the nineties all week and I am not looking forward to it. Hopefully it will be the last of the super-hot days and we will slide softly into fall. What did we do this week? It was a big one as Amanda began RA training on campus. She already loves her new assistant dean this year as he truly listens to concerns and issues rather than blowing them off like the one she had last year. Training has also been more organized making for shorter days...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Somehow this morning, August is not roasting me yet. The cool breeze kept me in bed longer than usual and I am enjoying it coming through the front windows. I rather like the taste of fall and hope it continues this week. What did we do this week? It was a whirlwind. High school check in, packing, shipping, passport renewal, laundry, packing some more, and a trip to the airport. Amanda flew back to campus yesterday to move in and begin RA training tomorrow. Classes for Serra begin this week and we have our fingers crossed that switching out of AP Bio and into AP Chem will be an easy swap. Makes me glad that...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I am enjoying the unexpectedly cool breeze flowing in through the front window. Weather has been odd to say the least this summer. Normally August is blazing hot and dry, not so this time around. We haven't had the afternoon rainstorms since I was in college, and I am not going to share how long ago that was! What did we do this week? With a short three weeks at home for Amanda, we have been powering through the to-do list. School prep, insurance changes, passport renewals, college essay writing, deadline checking . . . the list goes on. The good thing? The list is almost completely crossed out! Only a few items remain to...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It feels like the July weather has finally shown up at the end. We have been cheating a bit with running the AC for a few hours in the evening. It makes it cold enough that Amanda, the furnace, is comfortable and Serra and get to snuggle into our blankets. Surprisingly the forecast has things cooling off. I expected for August to be downright miserable. Guess we will have to wait and see. What did we do this week? It was one of those rare, quiet weeks. Amanda came back from Bridge tutoring last Sunday. Thankfully it was a smooth day of travel. Serra had her Senior photos taken! Each of them is entering their...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It is still an unusual weather July. The days are hot as they should be, yet the nights are cool enough to sleep, an added blessing. I'm sure the thunderstorms we had this week helped with that as well. What were we up to this week? Serra has been learning the limits with her social battery and sleep. Not one but two sleepovers took place this week. I really don't know why parents call these events sleepovers because that is the last thing that happens at them! Her social battery dried up at thirty hours after the Thursday one. She came home Friday evening, ate, promptly fell asleep at 730 and is still trying to...
