Good Morning and Happy Sunday! As usual a quiet morning here in my little corner of the Fort, even more so today with the snow gently falling. This time last year I was sad and angry with the weather gods for arriving when they did and today I'm grateful. What a difference a year makes right? What did we do this week? Serra did great with the hybrid system that our district has set up to have kids back in the classroom. She has been very virus conscientious and I was concerned about her being back with people as she's not a fan of them in the first place. I think the small amount of social interaction did her some...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It's cold, wet and drizzly in my little corner of the Fort this morning. Something our area needs desperately right now. The wind is still also. Hopefully this will give the crews the help they need to get the fire contained. What did we do this week besides pray for rain? Serra finished up her first quarter as a freshman in high school. Strangest first quarter ever I'm sure considering it was done at the kitchen table. She made it easy for me by staying top of her work and breezed through with flying colors. Her love of math and science made those classes easy. She adores the new band director that doesn't compare her...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! The trees dancing in the breeze outside showing off their colors are saying it's fall but I'm still having a hard time believing that it is October. I never realized before how much my own sense of time was centered around the girls' activities. What have we been up to lately? Serra's knee has progressed and the doctor has signed off on it. Pivoting and twisting are still to be avoided but unless something happens she is good to go. Amanda is officially a college student. I know, many of you are saying that happened back in August, what are you talking about? This weekend was the first time that I called and woke her...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Quiet and cool here in my little corner of the Fort. We've actually been closing the windows at night with the fall temperatures. We're just past the Autumnal Equinox and a couple of mornings ago you could tell: Sun to the East and Moon to the West Friday morning. Reminded me of the movie Ladyhawke that I haven't seen in ages and realized is 35 years old! :) What have we been up to this last week? Just as the world is balanced right now between light and dark I think I'm finding a bit of my own balance with the work-craft-life thing. I do know that the slow cooker has come in handy and...
Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It's possible that the weather has finally turned to fall here in my little corner of the Fort as it's kinda chilly with a good breeze blowing. It hasn't felt like fall or September at all for me this month and here it is gone already. Marching band signals fall for and not having it this year has been tougher on me than Serra. Yesterday should have been the Legacy Competition and I have to admit I missed it. Hoping that the cooler temperatures help with the firefighting efforts as yesterday saw a lot of smoke here. What did we do this last week? Serra is doing great things in her art class. She has...
